The Waverley Paddle Steamer

24.04.09: Waverley Returns To Tarbert

The historic paddle steamer, The Waverley will be stopping in Tarbert once more this year.

The Waverley, the last publically active paddle steamer, popular with visitors will make 6 stops in the village this year offering people the chance to travel up and down Loch Fyne. The East Pier, which was thought to be unsafe, has undergone its annual inspection and minor repair ensuring it will be safe for the Waverley to take passengers aboard from Tarbert.

It is not clear how many years East Pier will be fit to welcome the Waverley, so dont delay, come to Tarbert and go for a unique boating experience on Loch Fyne and the Waverley.

24.04.09: Tarbert & Skipness Trust Wins Climate Challenge Funding

Funding has been won by TSCT as part of the Big Green Project Climate Challenge Fund to help lower the areas carbon footprint. The project run by Neil Donaldson launches tomorrow (Saturday 25th April) signalled by the launch of the Loch Fyne Skiff project wind boat built by local children.

24.04.09: Tarbert Teenages On Bird Protection

Some children from Tarbert and Lochaber spent Easter Weekend guarding Sea Eagle nests on Mull. The birds were recently re-introduced to Mull. The Sea Eagle is Britains largest bird of prey, larger even than the Golden Eagle.

24.04.09: Tarbert Gun Club Charity Shoot

Tarbert Gun Club will be holding their annual charity shoot in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Centre in Lochgilphead on 17th May this year with a top prize of £200 up for grabs.
